Christ villa poor home (For the aged 1947)

In 1947, we began with ’10’ old people. Till now we have given shelter for more than 1500 people. The consumeristic culture and modernized life situations force the new generation to throw away the old parents. The abandoned old ones are not left astray as they are drawn into Christ villa Poor home. Government grant is given to us for it is recognized by the govt. officials. The maximum number of the inmates is limited to one hundred. There are animators from Rev. sisters to look after the aged men and women. With the help of other ministerial staff, we conduct meditation, counselling classes, recreation programmes, and exercises for the inmates. The healthy ones among the aged men cooperate in flower – plant nursery, poultry farms of pig and rabbit etc. The aged women help in kitchen duties, gardening, cleaning etc…… Every month second Sunday the older men gather together in the presence of the director and performs the cultural activities. Likewise the aged women gather together on third Sunday. After these cultural Programs, open discussions are made for the fruitful functioning of house and decisions are made.
